What Life Is Really Like In Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia and the United States have been allies since 1933 but what's it really like to live in a country with such a strong devotion to Islam and where basic freedoms are denied to women?

Source : Wikipedia
Saudi Arabia[c] (Listeni/ˌsɔːd əˈrbiə/Listeni/ˌs-/), officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA),[d] is an Arab state inWestern Asia constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula. With a land area of approximately 2,150,000 km2(830,000 sq mi), Saudi Arabia is geographically the second-largest state in the Arab world after Algeria. Saudi Arabia is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, QatarBahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to the east,Oman to the southeast, and Yemen to the south. It is the only nation with both a Red Sea coast and a Persian Gulf coast, and most of its terrain consists of arid inhospitable desert or barren landforms.
The area of modern-day Saudi Arabia formerly consisted of four distinct regions: HejazNajd, and parts of Eastern Arabia(Al-Ahsa) and Southern Arabia ('Asir).[10] The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. He united the four regions into a single state through a series of conquests beginning in 1902 with the capture of Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud. The country has since been an absolute monarchy, effectively a hereditary dictatorship governed along Islamic lines. The Wahhabism religious movement within Sunni Islam has been called "the predominant feature of Saudi culture".[11][12] Saudi Arabia is sometimes called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Al-Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (in Medina), the two holiest places in Islam. The Kingdom has a total population of 28.7 million, of which 20 million are Saudi nationals and 8 million are foreigners.[13][14][15]
Petroleum was discovered in 1938 and Saudi Arabia is the world's largest oil producer and exporter, controlling the world's second largest oil reserves.[16] The kingdom is categorized as a World Bank high-income economy with a high Human Development Index,[17] and is the only Arab country to be part of the G-20 major economies.[18][19] However, the economy of Saudi Arabia is the least diversified in the Gulf Cooperation Council.[20] It is a monarchical autocracy[21][22] and is ranked as "Not Free" by Freedom House.[23] Saudi Arabia has the fourth highest military expenditure in the world,[24][25] and in 2010–14, SIPRI found that Saudi Arabia was the world's second largest arms importer.[26] Saudi Arabia is considered aregional and middle power.[27] In addition to the GCC, it is an active member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation andOPEC.[28]

Are Syrian Refugees A Threat To U.S. Security?

Seeker Sources:

4 Things To Know About The Vetting Process For Syrian Refugees
“Their first point of a refugee's contact is with the U.N. High Commission for Refugees. The UNHCR refers people to countries based on whether they have any family members there and where resettlement makes the most sense, say U.S. officials. If that's the U.S., then refugees are vetted by the National Counterterrorism Center, the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center, and the Departments of State, Defense and Homeland Security.”

Mayor against Syrian Refugees is denounced for noting WWII internment of Japanese Americans
The Los Angeles Times -
“In a letter on official city stationery, Roanoke, Va., Mayor David A. Bowers asked local governments and nonprofit groups to join the more than half of the nation's governors who have said they do not want to accept Syrian refugees into their states, citing security concerns after last week's Paris terrorist attacks that killed at least 129 people. The Obama administration plans to admit about 10,000 Syrian refugees this fiscal year.”

Donald Trump Wants To Tag Muslims Like Nazi Germany

Donald Trump is doubling down on his proposed policy of registering all muslims nationwide. He doesn’t seem worried about the concerns of some media and other politicians that this sounds eerily similar to Nazi rhetoric. Ana Kasparian (The Point), John Iadarola (Think Tank), and Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show Podcast), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

"Donald J. Trump drew back Friday from calling for a national database to keep track of Muslims in America, saying that the suggestion had come from a reporter.

Mr. Trump caused a stir Thursday night when he was asked by an NBC reporter if all Muslims should have to register with the federal government and replied: “They have to be.”

When pressed on how such a database would work, he said that people would have to sign up in different places and that it would be an issue of management.

On Friday, he took to Twitter to distance himself from the idea.

Donald J. Trump

"I didn't suggest a database-a reporter did. We must defeat Islamic terrorism & have surveillance, including a watch list, to protect America””*
